The extra-curricular timetable for Sports Activities has now been updated and is available on the website and around the school building.

If you are keen on pursuing a career in Engineering or interested in aeroplanes and aircraft this is for you!

Every Friday after school a group of Knox Academy pupils take part in the project; rebuilding, refurbishing and putting together aircraft parts as well as learning tool skills from experienced engineers. All transport is paid for and you return to school around 4.30pm.

A limited number of places have become available so if this interests you please see Mr Blair who can give you more details.

This is a reminder that the first Volunteering Committee meeting will be on Wednesday (29/08) Lunchtime in Miss McBride's room. Please along with your lunch for 1.20.

The Eco-Committee will be meeting on Tuesday lunch time in Miss Laudi's room (T1.2) to continue on from last week! If you missed last week's meeting, don't worry! Come along this week!

The Green Team will be meeting on Wednesday lunch time in Miss Laudi's room as usual. All are welcome!

There will be a meeting for all members of the Goat's Toes on Thursday 30 August 2018 at the usual time, no instruments required.

The Girls Computing Club will be having an introductory meeting on Thursday 30th August 2018 at lunchtime in M1.12 (Mrs Stewart's Room).

All girls are welcome, you can bring your lunch and the helpful volunteers will explain more about the club and what it involves.

The S6 group and individual photos take place on Monday 27 August 2018.

The S6 Group photo is in the morning, all pupils should report to the assembly hall period 1, following registration. They should register with their period 1 teacher first.

All uniform must be worn (tie and blazer). 

Could any S6 pupils who are interested in a career working with children and want to get some experience within the school please come to a meeting at breaktime in T1.7 on Friday (24/08/18). This is also a great chance for pupils in S6 to do something really worthwhile with their free periods.

All pupils doing College courses should go to the Assembly Hall at the start of Period 1 TODAY (Tuesday).

Exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic student to start at the beginning of September 2018 for 1 year (37 hours per week) with a company who are part of a global organisation and a major energy provider. The division you will be working in is the retail side of the business that supplies gas and electricity to over 5 million households and businesses across the UK. Open to both pre-university and undergraduates.

You will be:

• Assisting with the preparation of the weekly Key Performance Metrics.
• Assisting with the administration of the management meetings, including diarising, preparing papers and taking actions.
• Assisting in the preparation of monthly Programme’s management accounts.
• Assisting with the Programme’s requisitioning process.
• Providing support across the wider team to the Budget and Quarterly Forecasting processes.
• Undertaking ad hoc tasks relating to the Programme Management Office. Other ad hoc project related activities.

Calling all S6 students who are looking to get volunteer hours this year and/or add experience to their UCAS application:

This year Enhanced Curriculum is running differently and we are looking for S6 students who are interested in running small revision/study sessions with small groups of S4 students. In particular, we are looking for S6 students to run maths, English, physics or chemistry sessions.

If you are free during any of the following periods and would like to volunteer to run revision sessions, please get in touch with Miss Laudi or Miss McBride by the end of this week:

• Tuesday period 5
• Wednesday period 3
• Thursday period 2
• Friday period 3

This is a great opportunity to be a leader within the school community and to help younger students develop their knowledge within a subject.

Note to all staff: if you have opened up some of your classes for S6 volunteering, these will be put forward during the annual S6 volunteers fayre in September.

The following pupils should register with their register teacher and go straight to Mr Taylor's room (T1.10) on Tuesday morning.  Please remember to leave your bag in your locker or in Mr Taylor's room and no phones will be allowed in Torness so do not take them with you.  Also please ensure you speak to teachers about catching up with work missed.  Pupils will return to school for period 4.

Amnesty International will meet this MONDAY at lunchtime (1.30) in RME 2 (Mrs Montgomery).  New members welcome.

We will be finding out about recent cases of people around the world who have had their rights taken away and getting involved

 with letter writing and campaigning.
