Knox Academy was one of the original Schools of Rugby and was the first School of Rugby in East Lothian. Through investment from Scottish Rugby Union and Haddington Rugby Club we will run 5 teams to play in the SRU Conference system from September to December then play friendly fixtures against other schools within and outwith our district.

The extra-curricular timetable for Sports Activities has now been updated and is available on the website and around the school building.

Every Friday after school a group of Knox Academy pupils take part in the project; rebuilding, refurbishing and putting together aircraft parts as well as learning tool skills from experienced engineers. All transport is paid for and you return to school around 4.30pm.

Please note, there are no clubs running on a Tuesday lunch time. Please arrive directly after finishing your lunch, and ensure you bring no opened drinks into the hall. Only those wishing to take part in lunch time clubs should be in PE during this time.
The Girls Computing Club will be having an introductory meeting on Thursday 30th August 2018 at lunchtime in M1.12 (Mrs Stewart's Room).

Calling all S6 students who are looking to get volunteer hours this year and/or add experience to their UCAS application:
This year Enhanced Curriculum is running differently and we are looking for S6 students who are interested in running small revision/study sessions with small groups of S4 students. In particular, we are looking for S6 students to run maths, English, physics or chemistry sessions.
If you are free during any of the following periods and would like to volunteer to run revision sessions, please get in touch with Miss Laudi or Miss McBride by the end of this week:
This is a great opportunity to be a leader within the school community and to help younger students develop their knowledge within a subject.
Note to all staff: if you have opened up some of your classes for S6 volunteering, these will be put forward during the annual S6 volunteers fayre in September.
Anna Meikle is S2 is fundraising for her Girlguiding East Lothian Switzerland 2019 trip. As part of her fundraising efforts she has created an open facebook page called "Handemade by Anna" in order to sell a variety of her own homemade products. If you would like some more information or would like to purchase something please speak to Anna or contact her directly through her facebook page.
The following pupils should register with their register teacher and go straight to Mr Taylor's room (T1.10) on Tuesday morning. Please remember to leave your bag in your locker or in Mr Taylor's room and no phones will be allowed in Torness so do not take them with you. Also please ensure you speak to teachers about catching up with work missed. Pupils will return to school for period 4.
Could all S6 pupils please pay a deposit of £10 for the common room using the new online payment system.
Please do not use a credit/debit card which will expire before the end of July 2019 as this will leave the office unable to refund your deposit at the end of the year.

The S1 individual photos will take place on Monday 20th August 2018 in the school library during the afternoon. Pupils will be instructed by class teachers when to attend.
The Jericho Youth Café will open its doors again after the summer break this coming Saturday Evening 18th August. We open at 7.15pm through until 9.15pm at the Nungate and Haddington CC on Kirk View Haddington. Lots of fun things to do including pool, Xbox, playstation, table tennis, quiet seating area to gather with friends in, plus an activity if you would like to join in, usually a craft or cooking. There is no charge for attendance and free snacks are provided. This Saturday we are making bird feeders as the craft and next Saturday we are making ice cream.
This is just a reminder to all S6 who plan on attending the Leavers Dance, your £20.00 deposit is now overdue. Payments should be made online. Any issues please speak to Miss McBride or Miss Maguire (Office).

All pupils receiving brass lessons at Knox Academy must come to a meeting on Monday 20th August 2018 at break time in Mr Robb's room. This is to discuss the new arrangements for music instruction in East Lothian.
The timetable for violin and viola lessons is now on display in the Music Department for next week's lessons.

This months film is 'Loving Vincent' an oil painted animation, about a young man investigating the last days of Vincent van Gough. The film will screen in the library at 1.20pm on Tuesday 21st, Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd August 2018.
If you wish to watch the film but not signed up yet you just need to collect a letter from Mrs Gourley (Maths) and return it before the film you want to watch.

There will be a meeting of the group in Miss McBride's room at 1.25 pm today. Any S6 pupils who would like to be part of the group are welcome to attend.

The Green Team - Knox Academy's premier recycling club - meets every Wednesday at lunch time in Miss Laudi's room (T1.2). We get together once a week to empty recycling from classrooms around the school and we work on other projects throughout the year too. We have an amazing group of students in S2-S4 who are already involved and we are looking for even more!
- If you're in S1, you might remember spending time with us during your visit days and we'd love to have you back! If you want to see what we're all about, please join us on Wednesday and bring your lunch along!
- If you're in S2-S4 and you've been thinking about joining the Green Team, this is a great opportunity to meet us and get involved!
