Wilderness Foundation are now accepting applications for their May and June 2017 Imbewu programme, this is a fully funded programme and particularly suited to students aged 14 – 17 years, with an interest in a career in the outdoors or rural sector. Deadline for applications for both programmes is Friday 31st March
They have up to ten places available on each week and will be working in partnership with the Douglas and Angus Estate.

Congratulations to the S1 Football team on winning 8-0 in the first round of the East Lothian Cup against Dunbar.
There will be a Pre-Coursing event for all S4/5 pupils today from 2.30 pm until 4.00 pm. This will be at various venues across the school. Your Period 5 teacher will take you to where you are meant to be. Presenters will rotate and pupils remain at the same venue.
Outstanding Consent Forms must be handed into the School Office at Registration TODAY. If you are not planning to attend, please let the Office know.

The S3 St Georges Hockey Tournament is next Friday 10th March, at Peffermill. Last year we had a great run at this event and I am sure we can do even better this year if everyone commits to playing. Players must collect a parent info letter from Mr Wands before Thursday.

On Thursday 9 March 2017, there will be a bake sale on during break time in the Social Area. This event is taking place in order to raise money to support the charities of Red Nose Day and StJohn's Hospital.
Amnesty International will take place on Monday (27th February) at 1.30 pm in RME 2 - come along and get involved. We are going to be making a display so look forward to seeing you there.
The Eco-Committee will be meeting on Monday and Wednesday of next week at lunch time in Miss Laudi's room. All members are asked to attend these important meetings ahead of Eco-Week.
The Christmas Dance photographs will be available to order from Monday 27 February 2017. Please see Mrs Ball to place your order, each photograph will cost 50p with the proceeds going to the Parent Teacher Association who provide additional funds to support school activities.
Arnold Clark is aiming to start its first female-only mechanic group in 2017. This will be open to all females that have achieved or working towards their National 4 or above in Maths, English and either a Science or a Technical subject in Scotland.
With this in mind they think International Women’s Day is the perfect opportunity to attract the right candidates. International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women today. The day also marks a call to accelerate gender parity.
They are pleased to invite pupils to join them at their International Women’s Day Event, at GTG Training and Conference Centre in Edinburgh on Wednesday 8th March 2017.
This exclusive event is aimed at young women aged between 16 and 19 to showcase opportunities that might previously have been seen as male-dominated.
It will be an excellent opportunity to gain a real insight into the roles they offer, with a series of workshops, practical tasks and the opportunity to meet successful female employees in the automotive industry.
There is limited availability for this event with only two sessions and 16 places on each. Each session will run for around three hours and the start times are 9am and 1pm, giving pupils a unique opportunity to experience life in the automotive industry.

The results for this year East Lothian Cross Country are now in. Congratulations to everyone that represented the school in what proved to be a keenly contested event. The staff that went in support of the Knox Running Team were very impressed by the general level of effort and of how supportive the team members were of each other.

We are currently in 2nd place but their is only 6 certificates between us and the school in 1st places.

Academy of Music are running a week long intensive course in Employability in the Music Industry week beginning 20th February and short course in Sound Production in March and April.
Employability in the Music Industry is aimed at those interested working in this field. The purpose of the course is to help candidates develop their understanding of the requirements of the workplace, focusing on the challenges and requirements of working in this fast-paced environment. In addition, participants will be given a broad overview of what it means to be an artist manager in the music industry. Following an interview on the final day of the course, successful candidates will have the opportunity to take up a 1 week work experience with a local music industry employer. Those who successfully complete this short program will be awarded a SQA Level 4 employability award and a level 6 Music Management module. You will also develop essential skills to help you gain employment in any area, including developing your confidence, communication skills and CV.
Short Course in Sound Production will run again in March and April 2017. Program gives hands on experience with Logic Pro X, microphones, MIDI recording and a host of other useful skills and knowledge that will help with home recording or set you up for further study in sound production. On successful completion, you will be awarded a BTEC Level 3 Award in Sound Production to evidence your new-found recording abilities.

SQA (Shawfair) are holding an information morning to promote their employment opportunities, Modern Apprenticeships in Business Administration.
Successful candidates will be offered a 2 year contract, SVQ3 in Business Admin and HNC in Admin and IT plus a great salary of circa £14,284 per annum.
The morning will include information on the Modern Apprenticeship plus input from current/previous apprentices on their business admin journey. There is also a tour of the premises including input from several departments some of which have hosted apprentices in the past.
