Please ensure that if you have signed up to attend Jack and the Beanstalk on Tuesday 29 November 2016 (evening) that you make payment of the initial deposit (£10) this week.  The full amount can also be paid if desired (£18).

Payment must be received in order to pay for the tickets next week (overdrafts are not available from the School Office!).  At the moment, payments have been slow to arrive and without suitable numbers it might be a case of no pantomime :-(  A few extra spaces have become available if you are interested, please speak with Mr D.

Thanks :-)

The next Scottish Youth Parliament (SYP) elections will be in March 2017, and the call for candidates is now open!

Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYPs) do fantastic work to ensure that young people's voices are heard on the issues that affect them. Being an MSYP is also an amazing opportunity for young people's personal and professional development, and allows them to build and develop loads of transferable skills.

We're telling young people to:
Take a Stand. #Stand4SYP
For a better SCOTLAND. For a better YOU.

The submission of interest form will be open from now until 31 October 2016 on our website here.

Please see Ms Brannigan for further details.

Could anyone who plays for the S3 hockey team, could they please come and vote at breaktime today (09/09/16) in my room M.9 for a captain for this season. Try to pick someone who will be a good leader, on and off the pitch and that is enthusiastic. They must also be committed to playing in matches this season. There will be paper left out on one of the desks and a box to put your vote in. Can you make sure and put their full name,

Thanks,

Miss Stobie

Did your primary school have an Eco-Schools Award for its contribution to the environment? Currently, Knox does NOT have one! Would you like to be part of an Eco-Committee who will work towards achieving an Eco-Schools Award? YES YOU DO!

Miss Stobie and Miss Laudi want to do more to reduce Knox’s impact on the environment by setting up an Eco-Committee composed of students and staff. This committee will run environmental initiatives to raise awareness and encourage school-wide participation aimed at saving the environment. We hope to eventually obtain an Eco-Schools Award for our work throughout the year.

If you are interested in joining this Eco-Committee, please attend a meeting on Tuesday 13 September at 1:30pm in Miss Laudi’s room (T1.2). EVERYONE IS WELCOME! Ideally, the committee will have representatives from each year group. S5 & S6 – this is a great extra-curricular opportunity for your CVs and UCAS applications! For any more information, please see Miss Stobie or Miss Laudi.

We are thinking about putting a school team in to the Strathpuffer this year.  The Strathpuffer is the hardest mountain bike endurance race in the UK.  It runs for 24 hours of which 17 are in darkness.  Its also in late January in Easter Ross - an hour North of Inverness.  Schools can enter teams of eight which complete 11 km laps in relay.  If you think you'd be up for camping in the Highlands in January, for racing a mountain bike through the night in mud, snow, ice and rain and for being part of something which is truly epic then come to room T2.9 on Friday break.  Dr. Easton

On your journey to school, every pupil represents Knox Academy – you are identifiable by the Dress Code. I have received complaints from the public about pupils walking in the road, hindering the flow of traffic. I have also been informed that a pupil threw a ball into traffic that knocked the wing-mirror casing off a car. This sort of behaviour is unacceptable and could result in someone getting seriously hurt. This behaviour also has a detrimental effect on the reputation of the school and should cease immediately.
Thank you.
