Meadowpark pupils and staff are raising Awareness for Autism week beginning 26th March, and will be holding a series of activities for Meadowpark and Knox Academy pupils on Thursday afternoon 29th March.
There will be a cake sale from lunch-time onwards, bikes and scooters will be available in the playground and an opportunity to beat Mr Morrison at shape football.
We also have giant Jenga, Giant Dominoes, will have the sensory room, soft play room and gym hall open for a friendly Boccia tournament.

There is a one-day TMP Aspire event in Edinburgh in July. This is perfect for S4-S5 students considering a career in medicine as well as informing parents about the various stages involved in the medical school application process. The aim of Aspire is to reach students from all backgrounds - tickets cost just £20 for a student and £30 for a student + parent. The RLSS UK National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is the most awarded lifeguard qualification in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
enjoyleisure are offering the NPLQ during the period Monday 2 April 2018 and Saturday 6 April 2018.

Combining theoretical work and practical training, you will become a fully accredited pool lifeguard, learning key life skills – first aid, CPR and rescue techniques and gain an internationally recognised lifeguard qualification. The NPLQ course duration is 37.5 hours training + up to 3 hours assessment with an integrated element - AED training.
The RLSS UK NPLQ is not just a qualification, it can be a stepping-stone into a career within the leisure industry. As a lifeguard you will be able to provide an amazing service to the public. You will, without doubt make people feel confident, happier and safer in the water by being on poolside.
Not only will you have to have a basic level of fitness to become a lifeguard, but you’ll be encouraged to stay fit and get fitter.

Hundreds of healthcare professionals from across the UK will be volunteering to present and network with students who are interested in Medicine at a National Healthcare Weekend on 17 and 18 March, taking place at University of Stirling. It is a highly valuable opportunity for students to network with a variety of healthcare professions, learn about work experience opportunities and how to make a successful application. Registration is £25 for students on the Saturday conferences and there is an optional UCAS lecture available on Sunday for each speciality. Just a reminder to everyone that the schools Pupils VS Teachers Sport Relief events are taking place over the next few days.
We would appreciate as much support as possible at all of these events, come along and have a laugh! At the events we will also be raising money for sports relief and would be really grateful for a donation to attend.

Production apprentices, who are aged 18 or over, spend a year working in a variety of BBC Scotland departments across the country and combine this with time at college in Glasgow. They could be creating content, researching stories and locations or contacting contributors. At other times they might be planning, checking copyright and organising programme logistics.
The journalism trainees, also for those aged 18 and over, will have a passion for storytelling and will be trained both on the job and by the BBC Academy to bring stories to life for our audiences on TV, radio, online and social media. We have places in our newsrooms for English and Gaelic speakers, and there are opportunities, too, in sports news.
BBC Scotland recognises that applying for these roles can be daunting and that many people might be put off by the process. To help people along the way, we are hosting an information evening about these vacancies at our headquarters in Glasgow’s Pacific Quay on Wednesday 21st March, from 6pm. I would be very grateful if you could let your students know about the jobs and our informal event. We want to demystify the process and widen the net of new recruits to make sure all parts of Scottish society are represented in our workforce.
At the information evening there will be current trainees and apprentices, plus those who have passed through the schemes in previous years. There will also be staff there to talk about their jobs at BBC Scotland and to give advice about the application process.

This vacancy is restricted to applicants who currently live in the East Lothian Area and are aged between 16 and 24 years of age as at 30 July 2018.
Applicants should have achieved, or be expected to achieve the following qualifications by August 2018:
3 National 4 or 5’s, or 3 standard grades at credit/general level (1-4),
including English, Maths and one other subject.
Applicants must provide certified proof of the qualifications noted above at Stage 2 of the process (Theory Test). Please note National 4 qualifications/predicted National 5 qualifications will be accepted but only if verified in writing by your school.
Applicants will be required to pass the theory test and a practical test prior to interview.
The apprenticeship will run for 4 years and during this period every apprentice will attend an appropriate further education centre to attain the qualification applicable to this trade. Apprentices will also work with teams of skilled craft operatives on a variety of different tasks applicable to the trade.
The apprentice will be paid an annual salary of £12,564.48 during the first year of the apprenticeship (plus any pay awards) which will be increased each year of the remaining 3 years.
Applicants should have a genuine interest in this trade and be able to demonstrate a commitment to their own learning and show that they are keen to become a qualified tradesperson.
