On Thursday 3 December at 7.30 pm the renowned BBC journalist Fergal Keane, most recently in Myanmar, will give this year's John P. Mackintosh Memorial Lecture in St Mary's Parish Church, Sidegate, Haddington EH41 4BZ. The event is free and unticketed and doors open at 7.00 pm.

The second instalment of £125 for the London Trip is due on Monday 23rd November. This should be handed in to Mr McFarlane or Mr Redford. If there is any issue with making the payment please see either teacher.

The Academy of Music and Sound (in partnership with Fife College) have introduced a new selection process for their creative industries modern apprenticeships in music business and/or live events and promotion. Anyone interested in applying for an apprenticeship position in Glasgow and Edinburgh (starting throughout 2015 and 2016) will be required to attend a one week selection event which has been designed to support and prepare applicants for an interview with their prospective employer.

The aim of the course is to help candidates develop their understanding of the requirements of the workplace, focusing on the challenges and requirements of working in the fast-paced music industry. In addition, participants will be given a broad overview of what it means to be an artist manager in the music industry in order to give them a taste of what is to come on the apprenticeship.

A letter for Iceland Clothing/Kit was issued at a meeting last week, if you have not already collected one of these see Miss Jeffrey today or tomorrow (Wed/Thurs).  These need to be returned with payment for any orders hoping to be received in time for Christmas by Thursday 19^th November!

One space is available on the Iceland 2016 Expedition – If you are interested, please see Mr Murdoch ASAP!!

Please note that if you have not already made the second payment for the trip to Iceland next year, this payment is now overdue.  We now have to pay deposit for the accommodation and excursions, and cannot do this without the second instalment from those going on the trip.

There will be a meeting at morning interval TODAY in Mr Redford’s room (Drama 3), for all pupils who are attending the upcoming football trip to see Man City vs Southampton. It is essential that all pupils attend as important information will be handed out.

The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child is in the process of developing a new General Comment on the rights of children during adolescence – a guiding document setting out what Governments that have ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child need to do to safeguard the rights of children and young people aged 10-17.

The Committee is keen to hear from as many children and young people as possible to ensure their views shape the final document. A SHORT ONLINE QUESTIONNAIRE has been designed by a group of adults and young people to allow children and young people all over the world to participate. Deadline is this Friday (20 November 2015).
