Hopefully you will have been to, or at least heard of, Dunbar's annual SciFest, a fabulous showcase of all things exciting and scientific to get our children interested in the world of Science. Have a look at our website for a taste of what's happened in previous years.

As we continue to grow year on year, we are finding that we need more people and skills on our organising team than we currently have, and are therefore looking for new members to come on board and help us deliver this amazing event in March next year. A scientific background is not necessary for this; organisational and other skills are what's needed.

Please do have a look at the advert below.  If you think you would be able to help, and contact us for further information if required.

Could I please remind parents and carers that they should not be bringing their vehicles onto school premises between 8.30am and 9.00am, and 3.45pm and 4.15pm to pick up, and drop off their children without a prior arrangement with myself. There is limited road space on the school campus and I am concerned that there will be a collision at some point.

Thank you

At the S4 Parents' Evening we asked Parents and Carers to complete a Questionnaire regarding opinions of our School. We will also be doing this at the S5/6 Parents' Evening tomorrow and parents/carers of pupils in other year groups will also get this opportunity.

We'd like to thank those of you who filled in the Questionnaire last week - we really appreciate your thoughts and views.

We are in the process of reviewing the results and will share these in the New Year.

Friday 13 December 2013 is Christmas Jumper Day at Knox Academy.  Both pupils and staff are invited to wear a Christmas jumper.

All money raised goes to Save the Children - £1 for wearing a jumper, spot prizes on the day.  There is no need to buy a new jumper, just put some tinsel or baubles onto an old jumper!

Be creative!

Currently there is a national campaign underway to raise awareness of private fostering.

Private fostering is when a private childcare arrangement is made between parents and other adults who are not close relatives (ie not a grandparent, brother, sister, uncle or aunt) of the child or not formally approved foster carers and where the care of the child is to be undertaken for more than 28 days.

The law states that these arrangements need to be brought to the attention of the local authority Children's Services Department so that they can ensure the wellbeing of the child(ren) involved.

Additonal information and advice can be obtained on the Scottish Government website.
