Next year's residential summer school will be held at the University of Strathclyde from 15-20 June 2014, and pupils can now apply online via the Space School website.

The Scottish Space School seeks to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers and it is aimed at S5 pupils currently studying maths and science subjects at Higher level.

Following the continued success of our event last session, Knox Academy Business Question Time will take place on Tuesday 19 November at 2 pm in the Library.  This is part of the curriculum for Higher and Advanced Higher Business Management classes. 

The panellists this year will be Hilary Dickson (Hilary's Deli), Ross Prentice (Prentice Coaches), Joe Forte (Joe Forte Sports), Paul Mcguire (Business Advisor, East Lothian Council) and Pauline de Freitas (Maitlandfield House Hotel).

The panellists will engage in debate with our senior pupils on current business issues, following by a networking session, with refreshments, in the Library.

The event will be co-chaired by Shannon McLauchlan and Holly Taylor, S6 pupils and members of the Advanced Higher Business Management class.

On Monday 25 November, the Debating Society will be hosting their first debate where they will be tackling this sensitive and complex issue.

Hate Speech: Extreme Views Should Not Be Given A Public Platform.

Come to T1.1 at 1.10 to witness and participate in this war of words! As part of the audience you will have the opportunity to challenge and question the competitors.

A reminder that the next Parent School Partnership meeting will be held this Wednesday at 6.15 pm in the school.  The meeting will be held as usual in L.3 (Support for Learning) - turn left as you enter the front doors of the school.

East Lothian Libraries have recently launched a FREE On-line Magazine service.

The titles currently available are:
25 Beautiful Homes; Amateur Photographer; Computer Shopper; CrossStitcher; Digital Camera World; Economist; Essentials; Health and Fitness; Horse and Hound; Ideal Home; Kitchen Garden; MacUser; Marie Claire; Mountain Biking UK; National Geographic; Newsweek; Papercraft Inspirations; Sailing Today; SFX; Teen Now; Total Film and Woman & Home Feel Good Food.

To access the service as a member of staff, or pupil, you must create a FREE account using your staff card number (see Mr Plain for further instructions), pupils use their Young Scot card number to register. There are a few simple steps to follow to create your account; once you have completed them you will have access to current and some back issues of the titles mentioned above.
