General News

A reminder of the news posted earlier this year regarding study leave in May 2014.

Further details of study leave for pupils sitting a combination of N4 and N5 subjects will be published shortly...

Pupils in S4-6 will receive study leave during the main diet of examinations (29 April – 6 June), please see below for details.

S5/6

Monday 28 April – Friday 30 May, inclusive (pupils returning for the new timetable on the 2 June).

A small number of pupils will have exams in the week beginning 2 June.  These pupils will remain on study leave until the day after their final examination.

S4

Tuesday 29 April – Thursday 29 May (pupils returning on Friday 30 May).

Pupils studying at National 4 level will not be required to sit a final exam.  As a result, study leave will not be appropriate.  A number of pupils will be studying a mixture of National 4 (no exam) and National 5 qualifications.  An authority-wide policy is being devised to deal with this circumstance.  It is likely that pupils with a certain number of National 5s will get full study leave, and pupils with fewer will get some study leave around the time of the exams they will be sitting.

We will pass on this information as soon as a final decision has been made.

Knox Academy Staff (and a few select S6 helpers!) will be playing a charity football match against the Forth 1 "All Stars" team this Friday (14/03/2014) and we need your support! As the video below shows (special thanks to everyone who took part in this) we have come a long way as a team!!

Cash for Kids is the official charity of Forth 1, and they've been helping children in Edinburgh, The Lothians and Fife for over 30 years.

The charity helps children who are disadvantaged through poverty, and who are sick or disabled. They also help groups and organisations that work to improve the lives of children in our community. They are always looking for individuals and organisations to get involved with Cash for Kids and help them to raise more funds. You can find contact details here.

How will we raise money?

The school will have a dress down day this Friday and pupils will be asked to donate £1 for this very worthy cause. The football match will then take place at Haddington's 3G pitch on Whittingehame Drive and will kick off at 6.30pm. Some fantastic S6 pupils will be doing various things on the night, including circulating donation buckets, running a half time 'cross bar challenge' and also a raffle.

Please come along and support our team!
