The North wind has already delivered its first chilly bite this morning, but the school was warm and cosy for us coming in. Temperatures are set to plummet over the weekend and into next week and therefore will be a shock to us all so can I ask that all parents and carers bear this in mind. Many young people with autism are unable to self-regulate body temperatures and have to be told to put on a coat or a jumper. Some genuinely don’t feel the cold but this doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t be suitably attired. Our kayaking programme will be continuing and staff, parents and pupils have all been reminded to wrap up warm, whether going on the water or watching from the side-lines, substance over style is the order of the day. On 12 June 2018 a paper was presented to Cabinet seeking approval to undertake a feasibility study and consultation on the introduction of a Common Secondary School Day and potential resultant benefits for Primary education. A feasibility consultation document has now been prepared and a feasibility consultation has commenced.
East Lothian Council Education Service would like to hear your views on the feasibility consultation, which will run until Sunday 11 November 2018.
More information can be found, along with an online survey, on the East Lothian Consultation Hub.

We have had a few visitors to Meadowpark in the last two weeks which is always a good opportunity not only to increase my daily steps which are often well above the recommended 10,000 steps, but to walk round the school and see it through the eyes of our visitors. Of course I spot the hole in the wall, the scuffed paintwork, the general wear and tear that comes from having 18 young people passing through the building daily, and of course I don’t draw attention to this but focus on the positives: the space we have, the flexibility of using that space, the light that pours in from the high windows and the ample outdoor space.
