5 February 2010

Today, the S5/6 prelim examinations finish and I look forward to analysing the results. All pupils return to normal timetable on Monday.

On Tuesday, as part of a Learning and Teaching Scotland project, Mr Young (Depute) set off for California. The theme is mentoring new teachers and the programme includes seminars and school visits. On his return, Mr Young will be making a presentation to staff.

On Wednesday, S1 pupils, accompanied by Miss Bulloch and Miss McPhee, visited the Scottish Parliament. The pupils had the opportunity to tour the building and chat with Education Officers. This trip was over subscribed and the staff hope to organise another visit in June. Today, the S3 Modern Studies pupils have had the chance to question MEP Alan Smyth, who had kindly agreed to visit the school.

The Parent School Partnership met on Wednesday evening, minutes of all meetings and other information are on the website.

Finally today, it has been great fun to see the wonderful kites made during the ACE morning by S1 Traprain pupils. The coming Chinese New Year (year of the tiger) has inspired many of the kites.

Members of the school community may be interested to listen to Radio 5 Live on Tuesday 9 February between 13.00-13.10 when the station plans to relay (live of course!) a short piece on the Knox Glee Club.

Best wishes,

JB Craig
