It may be the last week of the session, but it has been a busy one. On Monday, I attended the performance of ‘What If….’, a series of short scenes created and presented by the Junior Drama Club (with a special performance by the Glee Club). This was a fun evening with plenty of talent on display, congratulations to all the pupils involved and many thanks to Ms Whitfield, Ms Brown and Mr Campbell for supporting them.
Tuesday was bright and sunny, just right for the School Sports Day organised by Mr Greenaway and the PE staff and involving all staff in a variety of roles. Competition was keen, full details of the champions and overall house winner are on the website. The PE Department and Mr Lambert (Sports Co-ordinator) were busy again yesterday for the Junior Swimming Gala, another successful and competitive event. Congratulations to all pupils who took part in the various events.
On Wednesday, election fever was intense, with all pupils voting for representatives on the School Council, House Captains, Head Boy and Girl and their Deputies. The results were announced at House Assemblies yesterday. Congratulations to Megan Richardson (Head Girl), Julia Cockburn (Deputy Head Girl), Finlay Baird (Head Boy) and Richard Waddell (Deputy Head Boy).
Yesterday’s ‘Amnestea’ drink tea event was organised by the school’s Amnesty Group and raised over £140 for the human rights campaign.
A group of senior pupils, accompanied by Ms Duff and Mr Lambert, set off yesterday evening on the final expedition for their Level 3 MAAP award. They headed to Callander for ‘wild camping’; so keep the fingers crossed for good weather.
The Awards Ceremony last night was a lovely occasion, it is always a delight to celebrate the many and varied achievements of the Knox pupils. Congratulations to all the prizewinners.
Good luck to the S1 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Network) Challenge team who, accompanied by Mr Blair and Ms Ward, head to London next week for the STEM Challenge 6 National final.
Today we say farewell to Mr Duddin (Depute Head Teacher) who is retiring, after nearly 31 years at Knox Academy. I am sure the whole of the school community join me in thanking Mr Duddin for all his hard work and commitment to the school and wish him a happy and healthy retirement.
Today the school closes for the summer holiday, pupils resume on Wednesday 17 August. The school office will be open during the holiday period and can be contacted in the usual way.
Thank you to all members of the school community for another exciting and successful session and best wishes for a peaceful and enjoyable summer.
