Pupils heading on the New York adventure will have received the information below in a letter dated 26 January 2015.
***
This is the final letter before we depart for The Big Apple! Therefore, there are a few important pieces of information that we need to give you.
- All pupils must meet staff at Edinburgh Airport at 7.15am on Saturday 14th February. We advise that parents do not accompany pupils into the airport as it may get over crowded.
- All pupils should ensure that they have completed the VISA online using the ESTA website https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/. If this is not completed the pupil cannot travel.
- Pupils are responsible for their own spending money. They will need to pay for their own breakfast and lunch so may want to budget for $10-15 per day.
- Pupils are allowed ONE piece of hand luggage and ONE suitcase. The maximum weight is 23kg. Information about baggage can be found on the British Airways website. Pupils should also ensure that they do not carry any items that are forbidden in their hand luggage, for example liquids over 100mls.
- Pack for the cold, once we leave the Hotel we are likely to be out for the day so pupils should dress wisely. They should also bring comfortable shoes as we will be doing a lot of walking.
- We are using East Lothian Council’s own travel insurance. If you would like a copy of this please contact the school.
- We ask all pupils to be responsible when travelling. They are ambassadors for Knox Academy and Scotland and should follow all instructions given by members of staff without question.
- Our accommodation address and telephone details are; Manhattan at Times Square 790 7th Ave. At 51st Street New York Tel: 001 212 581-3300
- We arrive back to Edinburgh Airport on Saturday 21st February at approximately 9.10am on Flight number BA 1434. Pupils must make their own way home from the Airport.
- Have fun!
If there are any other issues please do not hesitate to contact us via the school office. Thank you for all your support during the organisation of this trip.
