MATHS CAMP

We arrived on Friday evening to a delightful, if slightly stressful, maths relay which sparked the competitive spirit that continued throughout the trip.

The first morning, we woke up to a dusting of snow and wrapped up warm. After lots of cups of tea and breakfast we split into our groups and went our separate ways - some to the zip-wire, some to water walking and the unlucky few to some multiple choice maths! After rotating through all the activities, all very sweaty and dirty, we grudgingly left our lovely instructors and gratefully accepted our lunch of plastic cheese and cup-o-soup.

After lunch we all ran off on our mathematical orienteering challenge from which we all returned in varying levels of mud and water, some missing shoes and many missing the answers to the questions!!

We had an amazing chicken korma for dinner followed by a relaxing swim which turned into races thanks to a certain competitive individual. The, exhausted, we showed up to the vector party to which the hosts - the teachers - were, as per usual, late. The party eventually transformed into a game of basketball which gained an audience from some of the other residents at the camp.

The so called 'Party Cabin' was more of a 'Sleepy Cabin, that night and eventually we all collapsed into bed. The next morning we got up ridiculously early to go kayaking and the sun made a timely appearance. Expectations were lived up to and some lucky people ended up in the water, although one, surprisingly, from not falling in but from simply sinking! At the end lots of people just jumped in and after attempting to throw Mr Blair and being told he had to have his life jacket on we set our sights on Mr Tait....who scarpered!

We did some more maths, had a massive lunch, speedily cleaned out our cabins and waved Goodbye to Maths Camp with a Knox Academy style bus sing-a-long session!

Everyone had an amazing time and lots of new friendships were made along with a massive improvement in everyones maths. Maths Camp was without a doubt a great experience.
