All S1 pupils are reminded that next week w/c 15 May 2017 that they will be in Food & Health making their Soup, Sandwiches or Smoothies during their Business Education class (and one lesson before or after).  It is vital (as emphasised in class) that every group member knows what is expected of them in advance and on the day.

Groups should ensure that ingredients are brought in the day before (clearly labelled) and these will be stored in Food & Health.  Groups may wish to purchase items required individually, or make a small contribution to one group member who does all the purchasing.  Remember some items may already be available at home.  This is not designed as an 'expensive' exercise.

This week, Business Education rooms will be available to those who require facilities in school to practice or put finishing touches to presentations (details at the back of the workbook).

AN INVITATION:  If you didn't receive an invitation home (all pupils were given a letter), parents/carers are invited into Food & Health to sample products made and to listen to presentations in the second period of the class's time in Food & Health.  Check with your son/daughter: this will either be Period 2, Period 4 or Period 6.  Thank-you to all those who have already expressed interest in attending.

We have received information from our colleagues within NHS Scotland concerning a social media ‘game’ called the Blue Whale Challenge. This activity encourages young people to self-harm followed by sending a picture as proof. There are no reported cases in Scotland however, we would like to make you aware of this and if you have any concerns your child may be at risk please get advice by contacting your child’s school and speak to their Guidance Teacher.

Our schools provide children and young people with information on keeping themselves safe within the Health & Wellbeing curriculum delivered within schools. East Lothian Council also promotes the safe use of the internet and if you wish to access further information on the safe use of technology online see www.getsafeonline.org

A reminder to all Italian Explorers that the meeting for parents/carers is on Wednesday 3 May at 7 pm.  This year the meeting will be held in the Food Court.

It is vital that all Italian Explorers are represented at this meeting.  Should this not be possible, it is important that Mr Wren is notified in advance.

There will be an opportunity to make Spending Money payments by cash/cheque after this meeting.  Should you wish to make any final online payments for Spending Money these must be made immediately after the meeting at the latest.  Sterling received online after this time, may be refunded automatically, and sterling cash can no longer be accepted.  Any Spending Money payments after this time must be in Euro.

Unless by prior arrangement, any outstanding excursion payments must also be made by this point.

The Italian Staff Team look forward to welcoming you on the evening to give final arrangements for our educational adventure with our 51 Italian Explorers of 2017.
