East Lothian Council has developed a Draft East Lothian Climate Change Strategy 2019–2024 for consultation, setting out how we will continue to reduce carbon emissions that cause global warming, adapt to changes in our climate, and improve sustainability.
We would like to hear your views on our proposals for how the Council, and the wider East Lothian community, including local communities, businesses, organisations and individuals, can tackle climate change.
For more information watch this video (below), and visit the Consultation Hub for the full document and to give your response.
Taking a group to Dounans Outdoor Centre was an opportunity to see the majority of our young people at their very best. Young people who have such a very different take on life participated in team building activities, piled plates high with foods that had previously been banished by them and laughed. They dug into their own reserves for self-regulation by following comforting rituals and trusting that all of us there were on that journey together. Read so much more here...Newsletter 31.05.19
Once again our S1 pupils have not disappointed and have been a credit to themselves!
Over the last few weeks they have been working in Business & IT to plan the launch of their own Deli. This has involved considering brand names, logos, and choosing a suitable location. Each group carried out market research on potential product ideas from a suggested range of Soups, Sandwiches and Smoothies. Product labels were designed, and consideration to suitable packaging. Promotional material was created including business cards and flyers, with a view to their display at their 'stall'.
Each group was asked to deliver a short presentation to invited parents and guests on their allocated day.
Thanks to everyone who was able to come along or passed on their best wishes. It was great to see so much support and to have another opportunity to speak with parents/carers. One comment received mentioned how good it was to see skills in action across different curriculum areas.
This week the S1 evaluated their performances and they are now looking forward to starting a new topic in S2 Business & IT on Monday.
There are outbreaks of measles in the UK, Europe and the USA. Measles is very infectious but can be prevented with MMR vaccine. MMR protects against mumps and rubella too.
NHS Lothian is inviting S1-S6 pupils who have not been vaccinated to clinics this summer term and in the holidays. Look out in the post for your clinic invitation.
Make sure to get vaccinated! Together we can stop the spread of measles.
