Do you want to study in the US?

This programme gives current S5 pupils a chance to experience life at an American university. It's quite an intense programme but is a really amazing opportunity!

More information on eligibility and application can be found here.

There is no requirement for a pupil to want to study an undergraduate degree in the US, but they should be interested in higher education and the US - there's more information on the destinations of previous participants in a press release here.

Whilst we hope it never happens, it is inevitable that there might be an occasion when pupils have to be sent home early en masse from school e.g. if the weather turns.  In cases such as this, we cannot inform you in advance and would therefore like you to consider your “Plan B”.  It would be our intention to try and contact parents directly, but sometimes that is impossible and we have to get buses away and ensure that all are pupils are safe and sheltered.  Pupils will always be allowed to stay in school until they can be collected or looked after.  For further advice about keeping your child safe when home alone, please take a look at this document.

Letters have been sent home (pupil post) which include a form to complete indicating what should happen in the event of an emergency school closure.

The options which are included on the form are:

  • Walk home.  I have made arrangements to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
  • Get on the bus.  I have made arrangements to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
  • Go to a friend or relative’s house (give details)
  • Stay at school until they are collected by myself or another named person (give details)

Please return these forms completed to the School Office (along with any changes you need to make to the Family Update Forms).  Could you also make sure that your youngster knows about the instructions that you are giving us.

Access to this information is limited to Support for Pupils Staff, Senior Staff and Office Staff.
