It looks like our lunchtime radio will be up and running in no time at all! We would like to ask anyone who is interested in joining the new Knox Radio project to send us an email at knoxradio@hotmail.co.uk or to give us any suggestions on the music you would like to hear. If you wish for further information, contact your School Council Rep. This is a great oppertunity to get involved with something new within the school!

We would like to thank Donald Turvil (S4, Traprain) for his huge involvement in this project.

Owing to the poor weather and the possibility that getting home might be unpleasant I am cancelling ALL extra-curricular activities for today - this includes Orchestra, Pipe Band, Revision etc.  The Musial Theatre Cabaret is postponed until we return from the Easter Holidays.

Thank you for your understanding and support in this matter.

Voting in the Scottish Youth Parliament Elections opens on Monday 4 March and runs until 15 March 2013.

There are three seats in East Lothian and we have four candidates standing for election – Brendan Sleigh, Eilidh McSporran, Maya Allan and Rhiordan Langan Fortune.

The four will be campaigning solidly for two weeks until 15 March, trying to make sure that they attract as many votes as possible. Some, like Rhiordan, are seeking re-election. Rhiordan has already had a very eventful first term, which included a trip to speak in the House of Commons on the subject of the Scottish Living Wage in November 2012.

Make sure you vote in the Scottish Youth Parliament Elections. Information on each candidate is available here

Ballot boxes have been set up at schools across the county and young people can also vote online.

To vote you need a Young Scot Card or you can get a voting number from East Lothian Council’s Dialogue Youth Officer, Caroline Davis.

Caroline says:

"Our Youth Parliament members in East Lothian make a terrific difference to national policy every year so I’m hoping that as many young people as possible will make use of their vote. Our MSYPs have raised issues which are close to young people in the county, including equal marriage, transport and the living wage. In fact, they met with Nicola Sturgeon at the Scottish Parliament yesterday, where she paid tribute to how MSYPs made Scotland’s leaders listen to the views of young people and act on them."

You can catch up with our candidates and their policies at schools and other venues around the county over the next couple of weeks and you can make sure that they know what your priorities are too.  You can find out more about them by going to the Scottish Young Parliament East Lothian page.
