A small and dedicated group of Knox students - Owen McHugh, Eilidh Munro and Saimah Uddin have created a KONY documentary (see below) which was viewed during registration across the school on Friday 29 June 2012.

Owen, EIlidh and Saimah are three members of the award-winning Knox KWN Team.  The eight team members created a thought-provoking Knife Crime documentary which was submitted in the Panasonic KWN Global Competition winning the UK Grand Prix.  They join the rest of the Knox KWN team at the Panasonic Global Awards Ceremony in London during August 2012 to compete against five other schools from across the world.

Project Phase 1 - La Esperanza School

We began painting classrooms so that the children had a nicer environment to learn in, the transformation was amazing!  In the afternoons we played with the kids; teaching them English, doing arts and crafts (funded by our donations to the project) and one evening we had a disco with them.  On the last day the school held a presentation for us with their national dances and dress, everyone recieved a certificate for their amazing work and effort over the few days! Having a fantastic time so far even though we´ve not showered in 3 days!

PS.. no rain and LOTS of sunshine!

They have spent the day learning about permaculture and the work of the project, including tasting all of the exotic fruits grown on the farm. They have also been working in a local community project and are helping to build a sowing cooperative for local women. This evening they are planning to cool off after a hard day's work on the beach.

After traveling for over 24 hours, both teams have arrived safely and are currently staying in Grenada, Nicaragua. They have spent today exploring the city, including the central park and cathedral. They have booked transport to their projects as well as confirming future accommodation.

The weather has been very hot and wet. They are dining at a Nicaraguan restaurant this evening.

We are all here safe and sound!  Staying in a hostel for 2 nights and then heading off to work on our first project at La Esperanza, where we will be until Wednesday.  We are in the middle of a massive thunder and lightning storm right now - never seen rain like it!
