Each year S3 History pupils are asked to make model First World War trenches as part of the Standard Grade History course. The standard of these model is always very high and this year was no exception! The pupils have used their imagination, finding resources and materials to make the models look as real and as detailed as possible. This year we even received an edible trench cake!
Mrs Craig, Mr Illingworth and Mr Plain formed the judging panel and the judging took place on Friday morning in the Library where they are currently on display. The judging panel had the very difficult task to pick a winner. Although the judges commented that the overall standard was extremely high, the eventual winners were Calum McQuade (individual category), Rorie Taylor, Lachlan King and Andrew McNaughton and Highly Commended Rhona Taylor and Kate Farmer (group category), Keri Robertson (special artistic merit)
Well done to all pupils involved and special thanks to Mrs Craig, Mr Illingworth and Mr Plain for judging.

I am delighted to announce that following the notes of interest submitted last month it appears that we have sufficient interest to run the Entrepreneurial Sciences tour to Florida in October 2012. As mentioned previously, the trip is a 7-night / 8-day adventure to Florida, with strong Science and Business Studies themes.
The trip itinerary has been planned by our tour operator Visions in Education, to give a once in a lifetime, special experience during which we can explore marine and ocean sciences, ecology, physics, technology, horticulture, space sciences, tourism, economics and native history.
Those who have expressed interest should now ensure that their initial deposit of £150 is returned by Friday 2 December. A copy of the letter previously issued can be viewed here including the full proposed itinerary.
It is important to note that the school is no longer able to accept cheques made payable to the GP Fund. All cheques (for all activities) must now be made payable to East Lothian Council.
