May 2009

The timetable for session 2009-2010 begins on Monday for the pupils in the 'new' S2-4. This week I have been reading the reports for the S1 pupils and it has been a great pleasure to see so many positive reports and comments and to see how well the pupils have settled in at Knox Academy. I am sure they will continue the hard work in S2.

The examinations are drawing to a close and we welcome our new S5 back to school on Tuesday. Following an Induction Day they will be embarking on Intermediate and Higher courses. The start of the new timetable is a hectic time, but I am sure the pupils will enjoy tackling the new courses.

The St Mary's nursery class leave us today after a week being hosted at Knox. This has been great fun and the 'bigger' pupils responded positively to the little ones being with us. We wish them well in their new accommodation.

The weather seems to be improving, I hope this continues so we can hold a rain free Sports Day for once!

Best wishes

The 2009 Activities Week proved to be an exciting and hectic period of time. It is a delight to report the many positive comments the school has received regarding the behaviour and politeness of pupils on the many and varied excursions. Well done to all of them and thanks to all the staff who took part in the activities with such good grace and enthusiasm.

The timetable for next session is nearing completion and details of course choices will be distributed to the S2 ('new' S3) pupils next week.

The examinations for the seniors continue, most of the candidates are still smiling so I am looking forward to seeing the results in August.

Best wishes,

The 2009 Activities Week is underway, and groups have set off already for Italy and southern France, these will be followed by groups heading to Paris, London and the west coast. Each year, the week proves to be enjoyable (and exhausting) for staff and pupils. The activities on offer provide new opportunities for pupils to learn skills, make friends and visit different places. Bon voyage to them all.

Following the visit to Knox of representatives from our partner schools in Rwanda, Miss Orr (Music) and a primary colleague are spending the week in Rwanda, they have arrived safely and a full week of activities, events and visits has been arranged. There will be a full report in the next 'Knox News'.

The S5/6 pupils are now on study leave and have started their examinations, good luck to them all.

The Easter Revision programme proved to be very popular and, hopefully, will be of great benefit to the S4 pupils, who are undertaking their Standard Grade and Intermediate examinations. S5/6 pupils begin their examinations at the end of next week. Good luck to them all.

Meanwhile, the pupils in S1-3 are preparing for the excitement of Activities Week (18-22 May) and excellent attendance is expected from them all.

Best wishes to all for a busy and successful summer term.
