During the month of December, the S1 pupils were tasked by the RMPS department to design their own nativity display. Thinking outside the box was encouraged and we have received some fantastic projects! We have had lampshades, cakes, gingerbread nativity characters, models, stables and many more wonderful displays. Judging was carried out on Friday 16 December by Mrs Craig, Rev Jennifer Macrae, Miss Orr and Mr Illingworth.

Overall winner - Nativity Tapestry by Amber Berg 1T

Each year S3 History pupils are asked to make model First World War trenches as part of the Standard Grade History course. The standard of these model is always very high and this year was no exception! The pupils have used their imagination, finding resources and materials to make the models look as real and as detailed as possible. This year we even received an edible trench cake!

Mrs Craig, Mr Illingworth and Mr Plain formed the judging panel and the judging took place on Friday morning in the Library where they are currently on display. The judging panel had the very difficult task to pick a winner. On Friday 7 October, Higher Modern Studies pupils from across East Lothian took part in a Question Time Debate on BBC Radio Scotland.

Many of Knox's pupils asked questions to the panel on issues such as Youth Unemployment, Volunteering and Sectarianism.

Following the vote for the Scottish Youth Parliament Elections in March, young people in East Lothian have elected 3 Representatives for the SYP - one of whom is a Knox Academy Pupil!

The successful candidates are;

  • Sam Elliot (Musselburgh Grammar)
  • Chloe Riva (Knox Academy)
