Things you should revise…
- Ensure you understand parts of speech: nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns…
- Revise how to use the following punctuation marks: full stop, question mark, exclamation mark, comma, apostrophe, inverted commas, colon, semi-colon and ellipsis.
- Practise using different types of sentences in your writing: simple sentences, compound sentences, complex sentences, statements, questions and commands.
- Revise literary terms: simile, metaphor, personification, alliteration, onomatopoeia, rhythm, rhyme...
- Practise identifying genre, audience and purpose.
- Practise using topic sentences to create links and develop line of argument in essays.
- Understand the requirements of the various writing forms for the Folio.
- Use a dictionary to check unfamiliar words and to widen vocabulary.
- Use your jotter and folio work to identify any words which have been misspelt. Write the correct spelling out three times.
- Read quality newspapers and fiction on a regular basis.
